"Carpoint has one in frankston. Very clean" I have spoken with the owner of that car. Apparently it was stored in heat under a tarp in Brisbane by the previous owner and the paint is all blistered. Was told it needs a respray, and at $16K probably a bit steep for me. Cheers Craig

Don't know it's history. I bought it for the doors and bootlid Had a crazy idea to drop it on a range rober chassis, but woke from the dream Rust free !!!!!
Located in Melbourne Australia. RHD conversion done.

Hello, I am currently debating a transfer from the US to the Brisbane area for work. Would anyone be able to tell me what requirements I would need to legalize a 1975 914 in Australia? I am trying to decide if it would be worth importing, or if I would be better off selling it here in the States.
Thanks, Eric

Last year I shipped a 1974 914 from Hawaii to Melbourne. I found the drive on drive off the cheapest way to do this. It cost me A$4,500 to get the car to Australian standards and registered in Victoria. I was able to keep it LHD.

Porsche 914 Fuse Box, 12 Pole, OEM Quality,New This is a great reproduction made with a computer cad design, with exact specs of the original Porsche 12 pole fuse box. If your fuse box is rusted, cracked, time to replace it before getting a short. This fits snug into the metal frame with the screw holes aligning up correctly ready to be installed. http://www.356devotion.com/356D-91461231510.html
Porsche 914 Fuse Box Cover, Correct Symbols, 12 Pole, New This is finally reproduced only by 356Devotion, using laser CAD computers to get the exact tabs snug fit in the fuse box and with all the correct symbols for your fuses. No need to buy a aftermarket regular numbered fuse box, this is exact copy of the original fuse box cover. http://www.356devotion.com/356D-91461231610.html

Hello. My 914 restoration project is never going to be completed. Since I started the project I've had a child and taken a job interstate. So free time doesn't exist for me.
It is almost all complete. Generally it is just minor parts which are missing. It will drive onto your trailer. Some parts are not on the car. I also have some spares, etc.
The car is was imported as a 2.0, but actually is a 1.8. The engine starts & runs well. It has been un-modified and still have 4 bolt steel wheels, etc. It was professionally converted to RHD by the previous owner.
I've been over most of the car replacing/repairing and restoring as required so it is getting quite close to being finished. Flexible lines all replaced, interesting wiring problems resolved, etc. RHD headlamps fitted. New injectors, turbo tie rods, brake pads, etc.
The paintwork was originally silver, but was painted by a previous owner in white. This was a poor quality finish and I started to sand it back in preparation for painting before I stopped work on it. So cosmetically is it not the best. I was actually planning on vinyl wrapping it rather than painting, which would be an option for the new owner.
This includes all the parts required for Air con except the compressor.
Located in Brisbane and viewable at weekends.
Anybody interested? Contact Steve@reddock.net
Thanks, Steve

I am looking for the project to be mostly complete and running. It will be brought back to a daily driver standard. As such, I don't care how rough it looks, just as long as it is mostly sound (no big rust, not missing major parts, no big dings). I am wanting to do interior and paint to get it back on the road, then work on refining the engine and mechanical at a later date, so I would prefer a running car or almost running. It does not have to be registered or road worthy as long as it has the pedigree to be registered.

Hi ya all, i just purchased a known Porker 914 from the Forum creater, not exactly a normal transaction, but i bought it auction... its missing a few parts and im after info on the car itself and also wanting to know, what parts are avail from other VW stables for the 914.... 1st question, are the wiper arms unique to the 914, or do other VW porsche models fit? Dizzy cap, leads, rotor, plugs? are they avail over the counter at Repco ect? are they the came as bettle or type 3 ect? i know the 911 cap is the same as volvo 164..
Stupid question..... What is the shifter patten? where are the gear position located... Im new to porsche, but not new to classics.... my passion in the past has been the BMC stable and Volvo/Saab with the odd Yank muscle car thrown in..
Hope you can help me

Gidday Steve, I was a bit like you 2 years ago when I purchased my 1974 914 from a Shannons auction. I have been talking with sic914 anthony whom is a fellow enthusiast in Sydney -really nice bloke whom has a lot of used spare parts. In general there are few spare parts available off the shelf in Australia. I have been bringing in new parts from Pelican Parts in California and Auto Atlanta in Georgia USA - the Aussie dollar is on par and if you buy under $1000 per transaction no duty is payable. They despatch within 10 days and even with the airfreight are cheaper than sourcing from Porsche outlets here. The shift pattern is hard over left and down to first, hard over and up for reverse, then 2,3, 4, & 5th in a "H" pattern. There is a Haynes manual available part 80025 and I have bought several publications to get up to speed - although still a **** mechanic with plenty of head knowledge! I have bought all the parts you mention from the USA including the wipers which are Bosch microedge 13 part 40713 Regards DAC 60 Denis.

I have the above type car converted to RH drive and fitted with a 1970 1679cc motor with twin 40 IDF Webers. The car has a partial roll cage fitted by Trix in Melbourne stamped 1999 - I believe the car was imported by Stuart Webster. I have owned it for 18 months and in that time replaced the clutch, and relocated the fuel pump under the tank and installed braided fuel lines and rebulit the Webers. Also replaced the outer rocker sill panels and some of the electrics.I have used the car for some hillclimbs and am contemplating an engine upgrade and would like to know if anyone has a good engine case available for building a spare motor - at this stage I would prefer to keep under 2000cc and use the existing inlets and exhaust units.

Greetings on behalf of the worldwide membership of the Porsche 914 Owners Association. Just checking in to see how our Australian Porsche Friends are doing as winter drags on. 914 driving season is full on in North America and Europe. We're all a bit excited to see an electric Boxster in the works. Electric powered 914 conversions have been popular for years, so why not a Boxster?
Those of you who are members of the 914 OA should have recently received notification that issue #97 of Mid-Engined Views is ready to download. If you're a member and didn't get the email, please contact me. Regards, Dennis http://www.porsche914.org

Merry Christmas to all members. I've had a bit of fun this past year, the highlight of which was attending a transmission clinic and rebuilding one of my several transmissions. Right now I'm constructing some special transmission tools to make the jobs easier. I found some old 911 & 912 transmissions that give me some alternate gear sets. The ultimate plan is to have a couple of spare transmissions with specific ratios for different event types. Another project is to build a few sets of parts to convert windshield washer fluid valves to an electric switch. This will allow direct control of a washer pump, and eliminate a whole series of woes ( wet pants, low spare tire pressure, fluid lines under constant pressure, and so on). I have sold a few sets, but am working to have 40 sets available soon.
It is getting chilly in Canada, -10ºC often, but so far no snow has stayed on the ground here in town.
